Got a gold nugget wrasse and blue flasher recently. Gold nugget is super skittish. I only see it for like a couple hours a day, just enough to feed it tho. Haven't been able to grab any pics yet. I am also getting a choati tomorrow!!! I didn't think I would get one so soon

Good luck with them all, personally I would’ve waited to see if the skittishness of the gold nugget was due to a tank mate before going into even harder wrasses however if you know what you’re going to fight through then you can definitely do it!

So far i haven't seen any aggression between the gold nugget and the bipatitus and moyeri. Moyeri is definitely very curious about every thing so it might be scarong the gold nugget a little bit but im sure it'll get used to the moyeri

I love all the wrasse pictures. My next fish order that I'm planning is going to be wrasses and I thought it would be best to run my list past the wrasse experts beforehand. I've looked at a bunch of compatability charts and I think they should all do well together but sometimes the charts aren't the most accurate.

List I'm thinking of ordering (1 of each):
McCosker's Wrasse
Carpenter Wrasse
Linespot Flasher Wrasse
Melanurus Wrasse

I have a 150g tank with the following current inhabitants:
1 Bangaii
2 Clownfish
1 Midas Blenny
2 Zebra Barred Dartfish
1 Green Clown Goby
1 Fighting Conch (large 4"+)
1 Mexican Turbo (slightly under golf ball sized)
2 Halloween Hermits (2" and 3" shells)
Various Nassarius, Cerith, and Nerite snails

My main concern is the Melanurus with the conch, turbo, and hermits. The other snails I'm fine with replacing periodically as they are eaten. The hermits are growing quickly as they each molt every week or 2.

Looking for opinions and feedback on the wrasses I chose. If the Melanurus isn't a good choice please suggest an alternate, was looking for a slightly bigger wrasse that won't eat my starter corals.

They all would work but I’ll be the odd ball and say skip the melanurus. Not just for snails lives but other fish. Other options
H. chrysus
H. Iridis
H. cosmetus
Many others but they are my top picks that are common.

+1 to this! I personally find the Mel to be an aggressive species unlike some others may say.

Thank you both for the feedback. I'll check out those other species. Once I finish my tight fitting lid I'll definitely go with the 3 different flashers and maybe one of the other halichoeres mentioned.

Beautiful! Looks to be a male too, which in general male wrasses are hard to get through shipping so that’s great to hear he’s survived!

Yeah it looked like a male. Unfortunately it didn't make it thru acclimation. Not sure why it was doing fine in the bag and the ither fish in the buckets were doing fine. I knew i should have bought multiple ;-;

It was most likely due to shipping. I find it best to get these guys from an LFS that they’re settled into so they don’t have too much of a stress filled shipping time.

Yeah, i guess it doesn't help that it got delayed in shipping for an extra 3 hours. Got to me in the afternoon

I haven't seen this guy in weeks, hasn't lost a drop of weight. I assumed its eating pods after lights out. Halichoeres timorensis.

Well that was a close up. Looks female. When it flashes the orange dots along the anal fin is female. If the are joined making a line it’s male. If they are starting to join transitioning. They are interesting fish. My trio moves fast and erratic. If it’s a picky eater think very small in the beginning

Sorry that always sucks. Makes do have two. The one closest to the body is easiest to see. Did you get it locally

How long did it acclimate for? Do you think you got an ammonia spike after opening the bag? Maybe this species is really sensitive to low levels? Maybe better to match temp and salinity then dump into QT?
