The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

I’m about to start a new 225 gallon 6-foot mixed reef. Will have a thick sand bed (to accommodate my current melanurus)

I currently have a pink Pygmy and a melanurus that will move to the bigger system (currently in a 65g)

Planning my fish list and want to add two more wrasses.

If you could choose ANY two wrasses to add to a large, sand bed system with a melanurus and pink pygmy, what would you choose?

Cirrhilabrus roseafascia
Halichoeres iridis
And a sneaky third place: any Paracheilinus species, most likely P. attenuatus or hemitaeniatus.

The iridis is gorgeous! And the Parachrilinus sp are incredible…would be fun trying to choose just one

Why just 3.5 wrasses in such a large tank?

That's a good picture of the wrasse. But, you're not getting away with just a partial shot of that genicanthus

You are nowhere near the bioload with the current list. Get a LifeReef skimmer and you're set.

I’m now beginning to realise why there are so few photos of Paracheilinus. These are nightmares to photograph and always dart to the opposite side of the tank. I still haven’t gotten a good full shot with his fins extended fully yet.

I wish I wasn’t at the capacity and could have a rare wrasse species, I’d love a C. roseafascia.

I say this and guess what I remembered surfaced last weekend when I went to my not so LFS. There was a C. earlei in one of the tanks that caught my eye but the Flasher took the spot for my last wrasse.

Wish I had a photo of a fully grown leopard now, they are stunning. Would love to see a fully grown male negrosensis though.
