That’s what it is?? I’ve never seen one in person, but I thought they were more orange. Like the liveaquaria pic:
These fish come from deeper reef with less light. When they adapted to higher reef light environment, they darken. I think they keep their lighter color tone when keep under low light. I’ve actually been trying to get one myself (!), for a couple months. I think I finally have a line on one. Do you recommend I go for a pair, in order to induce more flasherizing?
And while I have you, what do you use for your pictures? You have some great fish shots!
It’s a Paracheilinus attenuatus- If you don’t manage to keep your Naokoae alive then I personally wouldn’t do a Paracheilinus species as these are bad when it comes to aggression. They aren’t aggressive but they really don’t like aggression. These also need 4’ tanks as a bare minimum, a flasher swims much more than any fairy does IME.
I have a Naoko as well. Got him pre-quarantined from TSM. Started eating within 5 minutes in the new tank. Added him with three other wrasses (Social fairy, Blue throated fairy, and Solar wrasse). Came in water at 1.025, my tank was at 1.026. 30 minute acclimation and into the tank he went. Had his tail bitten off by a Midas blenny, went into hiding for 3 days. Then out and about and hasn't hid in the past year. Still bullies and flashes at an Exquisite wrasse twice his size, but not very aggressive. By far one of my favorite fish in my tank. My tank is 525 gallons BTW.

Not tricky thus far, but its early in the game. She hid last night after acclimation and was out and about when the lights came on this morning. Super active and not too shy.
I guess an 1K wrasse that does not always eat qualify as a trickly fish. Congratulation on your exceptional fish. Hope she will eat and do well for you.
They tend to be riddled with parasites, don’t acclimate well, rarely eat ect…
