Sold to me as a yellow flanked wrasse, but definitely think it's a blue sided wrasse.

That’s certainly not an aurantidorsalis. Instead it’s the ryukyuensis (I can never spell it correctly) which was only recently separated from aurantidorsalis.

After further research I’ve discovered you call C. cyanopleura a yellow flanked which was also lumped into aurantidordalis at one point and then separated both the blue sided fairies into cyanopleura and then they were further separated.

I thought the Cirrhilabrus ryukyuensis is the yellow-flanked wrasse, and the Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura is the blue sided. They're commonly mistaken for each other.

Yes you are correct, I mix the two up a lot as it’s not often people really question the species or wonder about it. Unlike many other Cirrhilabrus like finifenmaa and rubrisquamis or the 3 Solorensis species that were separated (Solorensis, Chalasai and Aquamarinus).

Six lines a bad idea but if you tell us your tank size we can give you ideas on others that will coexist with your current wrasse

My main display is 180 gallons. Why is 6 line a bad idea? I like that they help maintain the tank

Re-read it. Don’t get a 6-line.

I'm thinking they didn't actually read the thread, but looked at the pictures. Pretty sure no where in this 967 page thread has a six line ever been recommended.

Your current wrasse will help maintain the tank and any of that genus will also do this job.
Sixlines are hell, even in the largest of tanks they’re a nightmare.

How many in a 240? Hahaha. I have timmickkii, blue sided, melanarous, but want to get these too:

Rhomboid
Pintail
Naoko (maybe different in rubriventralus complex)
Labouti

With the blue side you’re a bit stuck on others, these guys can be more boisterous toward fairies and flashers so I wouldn’t personally risk it. Teminickii can be boisterous but I can’t remember if it’s the cf that’s boisterous or the true teminickii (It’s been a while since I’ve cared for either of these wrasses as they’re so uncommon).

Labouti and Naoko could work with your current wrasses, but the other 3 fairy wrasses are too docile for your group.

Might try a lineatus instead of a rhomboid then. I know they are a little more aggressive on that scale.

I also hear labouti can be a little aggressive. That's not true?

I thought wrasses were more like cichlids to where spreading aggression works.

Getting fairies of similar size and aggression is what usually works best.

Yes, labouti can be a bully, but it's temperament is comparable to your blue side. Temminicki can be worse.

Wrasses don’t behave like cichlids. If you have one main aggressor that is leader of the pack they will hate on most of your wrasses. Yes you can get ones that are peaceful but it’s hard.

As for the Labouti, they can be a PITA with aggression in my experience. Same with the Rhomboidalis.
I really disagree with the naoko possibly working. I’ve yet to find a single nasty specimen. I’ve owned 2 in my personal reefs but looked after 10-20 as they’re a common wrasse over here. The only aggression I’ve ever seen from this species has been displaying.

She looks tiny, I’d guess maybe an inch at the maximum.
They’re so cute as juveniles with the spots looking too big for their body.

Spent less than a minute looking at her as we had to go to dinner. I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know if it’s a meleagris or something else like an ornatus.
