Could it potentially be an internal parasite do you think?
I’ve gotten lucky and don’t know the disease side of the hobby too well. So I cant really say if it could or couldn’t be a disease and only look into the aggression side.

Macropharyngodon are prone to internal parasites so it's possible. You're lucky you haven't dealt with disease much.

At this point, the amount of disease I've dealt with over the years keeping fish, I'm very tempted to specialize in aquatic vet med. They offer the aquatic med courses about every other year here, so hoping I can take both before graduation. Just got a research assistant position on campus working on SCTLD (stony coral tissue loss disease) and genetics of hard coral zooxanthellae and apicomplexan-related parasites of the zooxanthellae.

Macropharyngodon are prone to internal parasites so it's possible. You're lucky you haven't dealt with disease much.

Honestly I find it unlucky because I can’t have experience in the entirety of the ups and downs. It also doesn’t help that I can’t quite see what a diseased fish may look like in person - I’ve seen flukes and ich in person but never velvet or any other disease/parasite.

Most likely Michigan. Want to keep my house for at least a few more years. Planted an orchard and want some of the fruit from it as it matures

Yes, I have a green wrasse but it doesn't hurt other.
I think the damaged tail is because some worms tried to eat the fish :-D when it was sit on the sand. that's why i've put that in QT

Now i've put the fish in DT, it swims , but stay on the low part of the tank. Probably now it's under the sand.

Halichoeres chloropterus can be rather aggressive, especially to the more timid species such as Macropharyngodon. That is possibly adding to the stress - Fish act differently when you’re around the tank unless they’re used to you and almost never notice you (Sometimes I swear I’m a ghost to my guys).

I know it could be aggressive, but i'm almost sure is not the culprit. I've never ever seen a single sign of aggression, of any kind. never. maybe in the future, but actually, in this month (both fishes were added together) they are both peaceful

A small Mccosker is hiding in the rock. He fears Madagascar but Madagascar wouldn’t ever harm him lol. It was his reflection that got him going.

Bottom is a Johnsoni fairy. Top looks to be a species of flasher, possibly nursalim. Hard to tell without seeing the filaments unfortunately.

I have returned to this glorious thread... I got this guy from my importer last week. I was told it's a 'pencil wrasse'. Can anyone help with ident.

To me it looks like a transitioning phase fish. Most likely Pseudojuloides cerasinus or Pseudojuloides splendens. Do you know where the fish was collected?

Edit: Pseudojuloides cerasinus is only found in Hawaii (thanks reclassification!) So I would say Pseudojuloides splendens.

Top pic is a paracheilinus bellae aka Bell's flasher wrasse. @i cant think correctly identified the bottom pic as cirrhilabrus johnsoni aka Johnson's fairy wrasse.
