The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

I am in the process of building out a new (to me) 120g and I want to go wrasse heavy on my stocking list. Since ya'll seem to be the wrasse experts around here, I would appreciate some feedback on my stocking plan to avoid aggression while maximizing diversity of color and character. Any feedback is appreciated!

It isn't fully matured yet, but without a doubt it is a melanurus.

OK 500ish photos later here are the five decent ones all under the whitest setting on the Kessils.
I was always under the impression that it was a melanurus.

Hey, I recently got a brunneus wrasse, and I was curious what is yall's experience with them. It just took it out of a 4 week copper QT a couple of days ago and it is now in a temporary 40 breeder with some live rock but it hardly ever come out. It will come out of hiding when I feed the tank and it is eating well. I just never see it swim around with the other wrasses that were also introduced at the same time.

Are they just a more skittish wrasse?

C. bathyphilus (2.75")
C. brunneus (2.5")
P. angulatus (2")
M. bipatitus (1.75")
M. moyeri (2.5")

I haven't seen any aggression between the wrasse apart from flashing between the two leopard wrasses.

Maybe I don't have enough live rock for it to feel comfortable.

I also have a labouti fairy wrasse. He's new I've had him for a week saltwaterfish.com has a great deal on them right now. It's about 3 inches and is awesome.

I guess im not used to having wrasses being this skittish. All the wrasses I've had in the past have been super out going as soon as I put them out of QT

That moyers is beautiful! So is that Blue Star. Fingers crossed the bathyphilus gets used to the camera, maybe today I can get a new photo of my jade (There is a small difference in the transition now).

It truly is! I wish my phone could pick up more of the pink that it has. And yes! It's the smallest wrasse I have right now but the most outgoing and it loves the camera as you can see with all the pictures of it haha. I can't wait for my bathyphilus to be fine with the camera and start transitioning. I'd love to keep track of the changes!

My moyers is finally been out all day today. First day it has been out all light cycle. Absolutely stunning fish now that it has settled in a bit, and got some of it's color popping.

My melgaris still chases it whenever it see's it. Mirror trick worked the first couple days, now they just ignore it.

I don't think I'll be adding a chaoti anytime soon. I just realized I have 13 fish in an 80G cube!

If it wasn't so dang fast, I might have some. lol

It's so skiddish, it almost act's like it hasn't seen another fish in a long time. Every little movement makes it dart.

All my fish stick to the rockwork, Even my tang that should be an open swimmer, sticks close to the rocks.

Yes, I have found this with my tank. All these so called open water fish and my tank still manages to look empty! You could fit one more wrasse in surely haha.

It's 3 1/2 hours past my red-line's normal wakeup time and he's still in the sand. I can't help it; I'm having heart failure. I know, don't go digging for him, but darn this is making me unhappy. He's my favorite fish and the only one that can keep the clowns in line!

My Vivien was burried for 2 weeks when I added her. Was out for a week and now missing for 4 days again. This one was quite small so I am less optimistic but they can surprise you.

Viviens seem to go missing or sleep odd hours. Had 2 and pass one to a friend. Both the same. My first vivien is decent size. As I had her 18 plus months the second Vivien’s was about the size of yours. I’m thinking it’s the way a lot are
