A rose-band fairy (Cirrhilabrus roseafascia) was one of my “grail” fish for years. Now that I’m in a position to get one, I have been searching for peoples experiences. It seems more people have them now than when I was first enamored ~7 years ago. Unfortunately, I’ve seen some reports that they can be quite mean which means this fish wouldn’t be a good fit in my house. Can’t have a fish that might be a problem for my sweet and peaceful rhomboid and pink streaks.
Given the small sample size of people having experience with these, I figured I’d ask here if anyone has experience to share before I decide to move along and settle on a pintail.

Definitely, I love how they don’t colour down much but the others do (Which is another reason I wouldn’t be pulling the money for a piscilineatus any time soon).
I mean species like Hemitaeniatus, Piscilineatus, Bellae ect… many of our other deepwater flashers.

Honestly, most Hemitaeniatus I’ve seen have been dull (Whether that’s them not flashing or just too light of a tank). I cant really talk for others however due to them being deeper water I assume it’s a similar case.
Hemi absolutely no way. Their color gets way better with age. They are big fish and stress easy. My tank is 6’ x 30” x 2’ and it’s too small for them. They also carry a lot of confidence and need a fish to push them but not too much. They take a lot to flash and show color. They will not lose color

Haha, that's what I'm afraid of. My E. African ceriths are constantly falling over. My second job is righting flipped snails. And I'm not at the office on the weekend, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
