The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Either he was tiny or you had some huge corals and fan worms
Or he did some creative editing like me….

So I’m very happy I put the exquisite in qt. I noticed a white spot of him a few days ago but it disappeared. Checked this morning and he has a significant amount of white dots on him I am thinking it’s ich. I am trying to get a picture but it’s almost impossible. Soo what is next step here? Never treated for a disease.

With a chelated copper like copper power raise the copper to 2.5ppm. Since this is an emergency I’d raise it pretty fast. Like less than 24hrs. Then maintain that for 30 days.
@Crabby48 knows better then me though.

@Slocke will fritz coppersafe work?
Yes Fritz or copper power. Calculate you first dose to hit just under or at 2.0 at most. Next day if wrasse seems ok raise to 2.3. ISE ONLY HANNA COPPER CHECKER AS THAT ERROR IS BETTER AS HOBBY GRADE BUT STILL OFF ENOUGH that you can be out of range. Sorry for caps got turned on by accident.
Most wrasse do good in copper but most problems come around 3 week mark.

You got to get a picture of this gem flashing. They are one of the most beautiful of the wrasses.
BTW they are all a little different in colorations and marking.

Dimond tail flahser (Paracheilinus attenuatus) correct?
Absolutely beautiful

@Crabby48 sorry I misunderstood the caps section lol. Are you saying that Hannah is the best tester? That’s the only thing they have to test so I have to get that one.
Yes Hanna is what you want to use! To be honest o don’t worry about ich to much as most times it isn’t a fast killer. Wrasse slime coat helps keep ich from wrasse but it attacks their gills as it’s an easy target and that is where things can be worse then it appears

Well, I just looked at the 4’ to see a fish being munched on by a crab and shrimp. Fortunately I could tell who it was as the fin was in tact… Unfortunately however, it was this guy.

Atty is no more, but once I upgrade, one of the first (if not the first) wrasses I am going to obtain is a DT again.

I think I’m done with fish for this tank as this guy went into hiding a while ago and may have succumbed to an overstocked tank (albeit there was territory for the smaller fish the larger guys were somewhat lacking).

Just stumbled across a Bell’s flasher (Paracheilinus bellae) for $350…

Is this a trick? Or did the price come down on these?

Na that’s a fair price. Other times few come in and people like reef pro way over jack prices.

That is a friend of mine’s fish. Full terminal male wild caught as an adult. No editing. Just one of those Hawaiian Feather duster. Phone picture. I think it is just the angle of the picture. The worm was closer to the phone than the wrasse.

He was the biggest character in the tank in terms of the wrasses, got absolutely everyone in display. Hopefully I can get a slightly smaller specimen next time as he was fairly large (~3”) from the start.

This boy’s growing quickly! He must be 3 inches now from being 2 just a few weeks ago.

I love watching wrasses grow, they’re just so quick with it. It’s one of the main reasons the wrasses I get are usually females or very young males.

Wow, didn’t realize they grow so quickly. Does that include the Mel?

They grow incredibly fast as juveniles/females/young males but once somewhat mature they tend to slow in growth IME. But even then, their slowed growth can be insane - my male radiant had some insane growth even when he was 3 inches - He got to around 4.5 inches.
