Wrasse Wednesday!

My new baby girl.

Does he have a name? I feel like your possum has attained status on R2R and deserves recognition, like @Sharkbait19 's Luxo or @OrchidMiss 's Felicia.

No special name really, I just call him “possum” or “little bass-turd” (R2R doesn’t like the B word)

@Crabby48 how long am I keep my wrasse in qt?
Depends. What you treating for
Prazi minimum 2 dose a week apart.
Copper should be ok at 2 weeks. 4 weeks is standard. If a wrasse has issue in copper it’s week 3-4. If I see them look blah I pull them. Methylene blue. Should help detox meds. Only used it a couple times so can’t say.
Any other meds would take longer only if they could be done with copper. That’s always a risk.

New addition, small male P. attenuatus

Just gotta hold out for 3 weeks, that’s all minimum then I can get another.

Hello everyone I’m very new to this forum and also new to the hobby / Addiction. One of my absolute favourite fishes is the Leopard wrasse and was wondering if there are and preconditions I should take before adding it? I have a 405 liter display with about 80 liter sump (125cm long 65 wide and 55 high)

Honestly, making sure your tank has plenty of microfauna (IMHO, the younger the tank the better it is for a variety of microfauna). Also what species would you go for? Knowing the species will make it easier to say what is a good way to prepare your tank.

Thanks for the fast answer. I’m looking in the buying the “Macropharyngodon meleagris“ and I’m willing to wait for the right time to get him (I just don’t know when that is) . I have basically just started the tank (start of February) and added some CUC and some smaller fish. Tried to seed my tank with some pods just to get it rolling and added a first couple of LPS and softies yesterday.

You're getting a diamond tail?
Eventually, I’m waiting for the upgrade first and then considering my next lot of wrasses.

Just copper haven’t seen ich in over a week. He’s looking good and eating a ton. I just want to sort of get him in the display tank. I am a little worried about throwing him into an acclimation box but I’m going to go buy two pieces of rock and try to make the acclimation box feel a little more comfortable. How do I transfer him with the most minimal risk of getting any of the copper water with the transfer?

I only use my hand to move fish. With a net I would give a second to drip and dump in the tank. Could transfer to bucket or something but it’s more stress on the fish. Also a bigger water change to dilute.
I don’t worry about a tiny bit to be honest
If he had ich try for 4 weeks. Not seeing any spot doesn’t mean anything. It will hide and it likes the wrasse gills.
I seen ich and velvet hide on “ich magnet tangs” killed wrasse quick before tangs showed any signs. The wrasse warned me months before the problem by their behavior but I thought stress from aggression. Wrasse act similar from bully’s, meds, natural tank setting.
