The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Great looking wrasses! I’d love to add a wrasse to my tank but is pretty small (20g). Maybe a 6 line would work but I worry about aggression towards the other fish in such a small tank.

Both visually and for the comfort of the fish, which of the following Halichoeres would be the best fit in a tank with these fish? I have no idea which would be best, so I would like some input again.
3 x 2 x 1.5 foot tank, 60 gallons.

Chrysus
Claudia
Cosmetus
Leucoxanthus
If there are any others that would suit the purpose and tank size please recommend them.

This is not my year for wrasses… this boy has now vanished. I saw him asleep on Friday but he hasn’t come out for food today and I don’t think I saw him yesterday.

And this guy is going. He has more territory, and even more food yet he decided to go for my female radiant, as well as my other fish.

H iridis is the obvious answer.
H biocellatus is supposedly the smallest and thus maybe the best. I really like the cosmetus though.

I’d go Radiant. I love mine and it’s on my list to get a second.

Yes my previous male was 4.5 inches if not 5 but honestly it was only after I added the female he reached 4 inches. Previously he was sat at 3.5 inches for atleast two months.

He’s usually good about it and it’s usually a similar fish that is just as good. Just share photos of what you got here. You may get lucky but you could get something more aggressive than what you bought. The worst was when he sent out lunare wrasse instead of melanurus to multiple people.

I was told the yellowfin i received was a fillimented. Even argued and sent pictures from their supplier to prove to me that the supplier lists the wrasse as a fillimented so even if they sent another it would be the same fish.... why use a supplier if they knowingly send the incorrect fish? Anyway.

Chloroptosaurus has to go asap. Is the D-tail in that tank? Trying to read between the lines. Is the female iridis gone????

Diamond passed two days before the Black Fox - Their deaths were somewhat linked.

The Female Radiant is still alive which I’m glad about. Chloroptosaurus will likely only be in my full time care for 2-4 weeks.

Playing hide and seek with the bird wrasse and my camera. Hiding behind some furniture and trying not to move is having mixed success. Here are some quick snapshots. Hopefully will have forgiven me for cleaning (some) of the glass tomorrow.

Been reefing a long time and this is the only fish remaining on my “bucket list” to own. So beautiful.

We had one on display in a LFS that I worked in the early 1980s, an awesome fish, emerald green, about 10 to 12 inches. He was a superpredator, though.

He's been in the system about 3 years now. The tank is about 330 gallons, 7' long.

Iridis is my absolute favourite, I've been chasing it for over a year now, and sadly nobody in the country is planning to stock them again.
I'm tossing up between biocellatus and cosmetus as my favourite attainable Halichoeres.

update on the Hemi… not good but not bad either;
Still no sign of him, but this is also good as there’s no sign of him being dead.
Bad sign however is my tang now acting up;

I wonder if that’s a sign of what my Hemi went through.

I agree with what you said here. If you cannot get a Iridis then Biocellatus. I also like the Leucoxanthus.
