Did the severnsi come out?

i think I was too late to getting the Cleaner out with the severnsi as he emerged once but hasn’t been out since and I disturbed the sand near to where he sleeps but he didn’t emerge (I only disturbed it as I know it’s a fish from a tank break down and has previously been out constantly).

I do however think that once I get my laboutei pair I will finish strong with another pencil - although maybe not a severnsi and instead possibly wait for something like a labrynthus to appear.

See, I don’t get why Pseudojuloides aren’t more popular! Their colours are so different to the other genera - I mean, Cirrhilabrus, Halichoeres, Paracheilinus mostly have the same base colours but only Pseudojuloides seem to have the proper blue striping, yellow bodies, the masks and (what I call) bandanas!

Honestly, they’re no more difficult than Macropharyngodon!
Aggression wise they can be more finicky (as I’ve learnt with the Cleaner) but on the whole they really aren’t any different to Macropharyngodon.

There’s way more popular wrasses that are more finicky like Femininus and Lennardi. I mean, I’d take a Pseudojuloides zeus over a femininus any day of the week!

So anyone keep more than one Wrasse from the same Genus for the bigger guys? I.e. Coris gaimardi with Coris formosa, Choerodon anchorago with C. jordani or C. fasciatus, or Cheilinus lunulatus with C. fasciatus? Even multiple Thalassoma together?

Debating trying it if I stumble across locally at the right price a nice 3-4" Thalassoma quinquevittatum or Thalassoma lutescens to go with my Thalassoma hardwicke, or a Cheilinus lunulatus to go with my Cheilinus fasciatus.

Even though I said the tank is probably done, I don't know if I can say no lol. I wouldn't mind a cleaner in there as well, but I think that'll harass the puffers non-stop, at least that has been my experience with Labroides and Arothron together in the past.

Nope. You should get a Bodianus. Though it might be too similar to Choerodon

Hello, I'm adding a McCoskers Flasher Wrasse to my 75g display next week. I was looking at adding a Naoko Wrasse and a Pintail Wrasse as well. Would there be any issue with this combo and are there any additional additions anyone would recomend?

Nope. You should get a Bodianus. Though it might be too similar to Choerodon

Probably will at some point. I've had Bodianus rufus and Bodianus mesothorax in the past in FOWLR setups, and would happily keep another of either species.

Also kept Bodianus sepiacaudus and Bodianus bimaculatus in with the smaller fish, and loved those as well.

Currently have no Choerodon, though considered an anchorago tusk to go with my 240 gallon crew.

Some people may say there’s a risk with naokoae so add that last.
I’ve had several and not had an issue but I also had a few very peaceful species that are known for being aggressive whilst at the same time I’ve had peaceful wrasse become a PITA - my recent one was the Cleaner Wrasse.

Hi all, have a 60 Gallon Tank (10 Gallon Sump ) 2ft*2ft cube tank. A pair of clown, a diamond goby and Lawnmover in there currently.

Planning to add either carpenters or Coris Wrasse into the mix. Thoughts please ? Would both be ok ? if I get both the wrasse I would probably get rid of the Blenny as he is bit of a bully.

Honestly, I would avoid the Carpenters. Mine zipped round my 4’ tank quite happily and does it even more in my 5’ tank with my other Paracheilinus. When they display they go for it and in a 2’ cube you may find that could harm the fish by swimming into rockwork.
A Yellow Canary short term will work but long term they do get to 4”-4.5” long. Have you considered a Pink Streak or Wetmorella species? These are peaceful species - so likely won’t work with the Lawnmower.

Probably the melanarus would work best but maybe the Lubbocks. The right line would be happy with the size but it is a more aggressive fish.

Someone got a lot bolder the past couple days, spending most of his day out and about now. Doing much better with the seahorses. Last flasher wrasses I tried just wanted to hide and never came out. I never saw aggression from the fairies, but must have been happening. I'm very happy I decided to try one again in the seahorse tank instead. He likes displaying at the three yellow headed jawfish.
