The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

I just have 1, not a pair. They are hard to get here in the armpit of the reefing word.
And mine jumped to the sump and I cannot get him out. So no picture :(
Pardon, you have a gorgeous pair of China's!

Been reefing a long time, and I went through a similar thing about a decade ago. Used to have big tanks (200+) with all the big tangs, jewels that took weeks or months to hunt for, and all that. I eventually got burnt out and bored, and the size of the tank kept in a place where I didn’t want to spend that much time.

Funny enough, I also kept a 20 AIO (my old trusty IM) running. And then I finally got an 80g (IM tank also) and think I’m happier with the super simple setup and my rhomboid, pintail, pinkies, and possum than I was in 20 years! The tank fits comfortably in a high traffic area where I spend 90% of my time.

You’ll be back :) and I bet you’ll be happier when you do decide to reengage in the future.
Been saying it for few years. Past two and change more and more. Funny I started a simple IM 20. I never had a smaller tank. Started at 100 gallon. Always loved smaller and the little things in the hobby but wrasse took it away. Need to step back and remember why o started to love tanks. Small critters you may not see but wrasse will devour. Going to look at used think IM 80 but to be honest think 50-54 is my cut off and I’m thinking even another IM 20 for the clowns in my big tank and the Chicago host. That one I can make more mixed reef. Easy water changes.

Hope you find the passion again! I think it was you, Salty, Homer, and I Can’t think, who got me into this thread and who would I be without becoming a fanatical wrasse lover.

Thanks. Still love the fish but they are better homes so they can be enjoyed. They have short lives. To be honest most are going in bigger tanks that are spotless reefs with colonies. I’m happy for them.

That was about when you stumbled in. You have one of the most interesting collections of many wrasse and fish I enjoy but couldn’t have.

I have a build thread for a 20 so I’ll be around. Keeping tank and equipment. Waiting on @OrchidMiss to take it to replace her 110!

Earl was hard one to sell. What I decided was my friend and owner of my lfs is starting a new 300 display. I decided that will be earls new home and he agreed as it’s his favorite fairy wrasse. Now we can still see him

Plenty ;)

Got a price limit?
Mostly speculative at this point. Let’s just say less than 100. Fish list is this in my 90
2 Ocellaris clowns
2 Bangaii cardinals
Pearly Jawfish
Foxface
Copperband butterfly
Mel wrasse
Blue star wrasse
Lubbock’s wrasse
Hectors Goby

Lost my second chaoti. IMO these don’t do well with moderate tempered wrasses. Kept on one side of the tank by the babi and then the naoko. Maybe they would do better as a trio. Maybe there is some nutritional component not met. Not going to waste my time or money again.

The calm before the storm. Corpus the day before the Hurricane hit. Good lock everybody on the Texas coast. My Leopards just now

One of the LFS in Austin had this one in their display tank for a long time. I don’t particularly like the shape or the swimming motion. I know they are hard to keep and hard to get healthy.

Here’s the twistii(s)!
Twisted and Twistii the Anampses twistiis. Twisted is the one with the less yellow and Twistii has more yellow. Currently they’re bickering with Twistii not loving the new girl but they’re not having all out wars which I’m glad about, hopefully they pair eventually or at least become buddies.

My 2nd and 3rd saltwater fishies.
Bluesided was introduced to the display 2 weeks ago and Mel just this weekend.
Blue has a whole spire laden with caves to itself, unfortunately the Mel was promptly bullied by the Tomini, but now seems uninterested in his shenanigans and has decided why yes, this is the perfect place to sleep and is now semi-covered in Tomini's hideyhole..
Tomini seems unsure how to proceed.

Will have to fabricate a few more caves this weekend.

Maybe a bit too bold… I can’t get good photos still :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Look who’s joined the big boys now! I wanted to get some nice detritus patches opened up for my Twin Spot Goby to do her thing and also decided to grab her out whilst doing it.

I see that you have a C. acanthrops. Have you try a harem of this Angel?

Earl has his new home lined up, and he was feeling fresh yesterday.
Around dusk, he started flashing and checking himself out in the mirror.
I'm fairly certain I heard him call himself a stud muffin at one point.
Of course, the second i get close enough, he stops and stares at me.

I haven’t tried it yet but it’s one I think I’d do eventually, first to complete my everlasting wrasse list :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Okay, I take it back… earlei is a gorgeous wrasse.

So, when will we see him hit your tank? ;)

You have no idea how much this is tipping me into another Lubbocki… Maybe once I get my laboutei pair I’ll see how complete my wrasse collection is :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
