The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Most likely Melanurus but could also be richmondi or leucurus.
Looked the richmondi and leucurus up, both super neat wrasses. I guess I’ll have to wait and be surprised when adult coloring emerges. Note to self: don’t try to buy fish when alone with 3 year old. She gets mad because the fish guy talks too long and you forget which fish you bought. .

Prazi dose 1 of 3 underway! All corals and important inverts (shrimp :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:) have been moved for the next 3-4 hours.

I thought she was a melanurus at the store and the guy said no but honestly I still think she might be. Will have to wait until she gets a bit older to truly know!
There are a few other names for Melanurus as well. I think I bought mine as a Hoeven's wrasse or something like that.

I’m excited to start getting some wrasses for my new tank. Installed a jumpguard pro just for them!
Looking at six line, a broad bodied male fairy wrasse (not sure which one, liking laboutei currently), and a blue star leopard for my wrasse list Any problems here? I’m about to start a new QT cycle and considering going ahead with the six line for coral protection as I add. Probably do the Macropharyngodon last once I have established pods.
Tank is an 80 gallon display. Also there’s only an inch or so of sand, will this be enough for the leopard?
Also from what I can tell I should be able to keep almost any larger life form invertebrate with this trio.
Any advice or comments welcomed! Thank you

Dimensions?

Forget the six line - they are the worst wrasse you could possibly own. They’re known for just pure murder even in huge tanks (7-8 foot).

48x24x16.5”
Oh man I’ve had good luck with six lines in the past. What other wrasse could I substitute that will help with pests but not eat larger inverts like CUC, cleaner shrimp, etc?

H. crysus are always a pretty good choice.

Is H. Iridis still importing? They don’t seem that readily available at online vendors. Maybe that would be what I do instead of six line.
They are a summer wrasse from african shipments. There have been some recent delays. TSM is getting some in. Better to emsil them with a requedt as they usually get taken before making it to their website

Why did you remove everything? Praxi is safe in the dt. I’ve used it several times in mine. Just need to run an airstone.
It’s mainly because I wasn’t wanting to risk some of the coral and inverts I have. I’m 99% sure it would’ve been fine but didn’t want to risk it.

Halichoeres iridis for sure, most Halichoeres will be fine with cleaner shrimp - my Jade left them all alone. Snails sure, he munched but anything else was left alone.

This would do equally well here:

Oh that's a good one. Two fatties posing for the camera.

I’m a little worried with this new galaxy. I had ordered a 5” which would have made it one of the biggest wrasse in my tank but this one is less then 4” and is thus one of the shortest and definitely the lightest. No signs of bullying yet but it looks so dainty compared to my other wrasse.
Hopefully I can get it to eat better and get it to catch up quickly.

Are you gas-lighting us with galaxy?

I’m worried about it… It’s eating but not enthusiastically. It gets up very late and didn’t get up at all yesterday.

I haven’t exactly been doing well with new wrasse recently
