The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Maybe aggression you don’t know about?

Have you tried putting it into a bucket with an airpump and seeing if that helps?
Definitely no aggression. Even as it’s laying there all vulnerable it’s fins are whole and undamaged. It has had a bent spine for years though.

Looking kind of like this?

If you can, I’d see if putting her in a bucket with more oxygen will help.

It’s odd as you’ve not had her too long from memory.

Over two years but as she got fatter she got more and more of a bent spine

Hologymnosus doliatus they get big :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
I don’t believe they’re an aggressive genus but just get nice sizes.
But I’m also prepared to do a 6 foot upgrade eventually!
Looks like a supersized pencil wrasse. I can see why you like them!

See, I also love the Hogfish so it’s like the perfect mix :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Pencil wrasses are severely underrated. Mine is quickly turning into the most personable fish I have.

I am thinking that since the splendens is doing fine in Observation, might as well add the next pencil, severnsi, if I can find it. Never seen an edwardi and only seen a kaleidos sold at online vendors (and I'm avoiding shipping sand sleepers now).

They say 3rd times the charm right?

I think I lost mine to a rock crash.

Are pencils pretty common to see where you’re from/around your LFS? Or are these special order requests?

I have been wanting to see some pencils in person but my two LFS never get them.

These are pretty common in shops which don’t specialise on tangs and large fish.

Well, maybe tomorrow we’ll have all 3 new wrasses in one shot :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
So, what’s on the list of newbie wrasses you may be wondering;
- Cirrhilabrus marinda (not entering until after September)
- Hologymnosus doliatus
- Pseudojuloides kaleidos

And obviously to top off everything, we’ll have a Laboute’s pair eventually.
