My personal thoughts: up to 12-15 years could be possible.

Possible, perhaps, but extremely unlikely. Like look through various threads and not find 1 that reaches even the lower number on that estimate. So if you have lost a leopard shorter than this, most if not all that have kept leopards, have lost them in less time than 12-15years. A more realistic span is probably closer to 6-8yrs. And if you go longer it is definitely the exception rather than the rule.

^ Oh I agree, but I interrepted the question in an idealistic sense. In which case, I'm assuming you start with a small juvi and nothing goes awry.

Quite simply, there's too many factors to give an absolute number.

I'd imagine almost all are lost to less than natural causes during that span.

But even if lost to less than natural causes I believe it is much longer than most would live in the wild.

Thanks for the info guys! My lfs is holding one for me right now I'll be picking it up tomorrow, Hes the best looking Leopard Iv seen health wise in a long time and is eating a little frozen foods so hopefully he does well.

A common name as such could apply to any red wrasse really; far from definitive.

Nah, the shape of the head isn't right, nor the coloration.

I'm hedge my chips on a female C. cyanopleura.

Thanks for the info! It was eating frozen at the LFS, When I put it in my tank today I fed once and it seemed intrested but didn't eat any of it, I really think he will eat well though after he acclimates to my tank, Hope so anyway! Very healthy looking fish I waited a long time for one that looked this good health wise
