What is it being mean to ? I have a sohal tang, purple tang, blue dot grouper and a dragon faced pipefish so my tank is already kind of aggressive.

In my tank it was directed at other wrasses(I say was because I finally caught her yesterday), which is the majority of my stock. In your case it shouldnt bother the fish you have.

Thanks Brett. I have actually never heard anything about temperature with them, so that is interesting. Just tried to find anything online regarding this, and all I found is the waters they are in are normally 76. I keep my DT at 77, on the cooler side for most reef tanks obviously. So maybe my tank is ok as far as temp goes. So far so good, though it has only been 1 week, so by no means am I deeming this a success. I will update as we go

Beautiful fish! Just to add some anecdotal evidence, our female choati is about to hit the 1-year mark in our aquarium, which I keep between 77.0-77.5. Took several weeks for her to settle in and during that time she'd only be out for a few hours max. Now she's usually the first wrasse out in the morning and the last one to bed. We've almost lost her twice: first time she jumped into the overflow and we struggled to get her out and the second time she jumped and ended up behind the tank while the screen was off when we were doing a water change. You're right, they're delicate fish but we've had good luck so far -- ***knocks on wood***.

Congrats, 1 year is definitely an accomplishment with them! I have my overflows covered, so luckily I don't have to worry about that. My little guy has no fears though, and has been out all day since day 1 as mentioned. Hoping this gives me as good a chance as any to keep it well into adulthood!

Does anyone own a yellow streak velvet wrasse ? If so is it aggressive to other wrasse I want to add one but don't want it to beat up my little potters leopard

Just picked up 3 new wrasse that are patiently awaiting there new home while in acclimation
Cute little mcoskers flasher wrasse
Red head solar wrasse
And an amazing exquisite wrasse easily my favorite right now

I will take better pics once they are settled in after I introduce them to the tank

Sadly the exquisite wrasse didn't make it RIP I came home from the families house for Easter yesterday and the poor guy was leaning on its side on the floor not making an effort to swim I even put my hand near him to see if I could get him up and swimming didn't work so I pretty much knew his fate was near, he died less than an hour later you will be missed. But on the bright side my little mcoskers looks happier than ever, at the store he was in a very very small holding tank so I'm sure he loves the open rock work and the more water to swim in

Does anyone own a yellow streak velvet wrasse ? If so is it aggressive to other wrasse I want to add one but don't want it to beat up my little potters leopard

I kept one in the past for 6 months or more, and I never experienced any major aggression. Others have reported aggression in the species, however.

What would be the best wrasse for my tank. 105 gallon. Trying to make the tank as peaceful as possible. I have 2 yellow lined cardinals and 2 black bar clowns. My most agressive fish i would like to put is a yellow tang and hes going in last. Maybe a wrasse that stays a little smaller. Must be reef safe.

Love this thread. Wrasse are by far my favorite marine fish. I currently have a potters wrasse, melanurus wrasse and a mccoskers flasher. I ordered 3 female black Leo's from DD on Friday. They will be here on Tuesday. Anyone else have a harem of leopards? Anyone have bad experiences with a trio of leopards? I'm debating on just keeping 2 and giving one to a buddy.

Not sure this is the right thread, but I just bought a yellow coris wrasse, he disappeared for 2 days and now his nose bone is exposed. How concerned should I be?
