similar to macropharyngodon, they sleep in the sand are delicate shippers. Many of the tamarins are capable of a little larger size though. Ill let one of the resident wrasse fellas comment on individuals.

Here are my two wrasses, sorry for the poor pictures. They are hard to catch with a cell phone.

Halichoeres melanurus

Macropharyngodon ornatus

Brett nailed it. They are a lot like leopard wrasses, best sourced from your LFS as they dont ship well and often are shakey on arrival. They often do best in a peaceful, noncompetitive environment until they get situated. Once acclimated to captivity they can be quite hardy. They do get larger than leopards and are not as ready to transition to male as other wrasse groups. The A. neoguinaicus and meleagrides get to about 9" and the caeruleopunctatus can get to 14". Males also do not do well with other males of the Genus.

X3... I currently have both the China and Blue dot and are about 5" and growing. I recently lost my yellow tail which was larger about 6". It was strong enough, when it jumped, knocked off a piece of acrylic and netting cover so have a strong tight fitting cover. They are peaceful and get along with all my other fish and each other, but they do eat a lot constantly cruising for food. I don't have any shrimps or hermits and wouldn't trust the wrasses with them.

Thanks for the tips. I have about 10 other wrasses in the tank already so I have a lid on it. I did just order a China wrasse. Loved the white with blue accents. Had a yellow tailed tamarin before and he jumped too. I have a ton of shrimp, hermits and sand snails already so if I see a lot getting picked off I'll know where it's coming from.

Ive wanted tamarins forever but just never found too many sources for them, the one I found came in extremely tiny and only live a day.

Finally found a juvenile lennardi wrasse. Very excited hope all goes well. I'll post pics soon

Good luck; it's a touchy species and certainly requires a cooler (temperate) tank.

Thank you, true its a difficult fish to keep my tank is kept at 77 - 78 which I believe its a little on the warm side for this species but the fish have been kept already for a month in a tank with those temps and acclimated to a tank similar to mine. keep you posted

I have a question. I'm currently in the process of upgrading to a 57 gallon tank. I have 1 Ornate Leopard Wrasse, 2 DeVinci Clowns and a Yellow Watchmen Goby that will be going into the new tank. I want to add some more wrasses. What ones would you recommend and how many?

These are the ones I' thinking of getting
- McCosker's Flasher Wrasse
- Mystery Wrasse
- Six Line Wrasse

I love it ! Make sure you takes whole bunch of pictures for all of us, and best of luck on sustainability!

A couple pics of my male flame eating out of my hand. Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics, can't feed and use the nice camera at the same time!
