Has anything changed recently? Has the tang hierarchy changed? I have found on some occasions a tang will reach a certain stage of maturity and a switch will flip and it has a 'compulsion' to assert itself.

Here is a pretty outstanding specimen of C. temminckii. I have never seen one so yellow before. These pics are from a couple months ago. The fish was at a shop and I didn't have the circumstances to pick it up when I saw it. When I went back it was gone. Apologies for the poor quality. The pics are from my phone and the fish was an unwilling subject.

My pair recently turned into two males, after being a pair and spawning together for 2+ years...

So now I have to catch the newest male, because he won't let the old male be out without chasing him back into the sand.

Does any one know what is the life span of an Anampses feminist wrasse. Have one for about 4-5 years and he turned into a full blown male. This morning he did not look good, breathing heavy swimming and resting on the sand and not being himself. He ate and dissapeared. The fish look good in color and fat but I'm affraid it's the end of the road.

Fish lifespan in captivity can be affected by a lot of factors, so it can vary wildly. In some cases an A. femininus may live as long as 8yrs, in other cases closer to the span of yours.

I have an eggcrate top for each of my QT's, easy to cut to fit and you don't have to worry about it.

Unfortunately I found the holes in eggcrate too large even though it's easy to cut and use. If the head can fit so can the fish. I learned the hard way. I use 1/4" clear netting now.

If you never raised the water level, it would be less likely - but I've seen some marine aquarium fish get some pretty awesome air, with less of a running start than you'd think they needed . . .

Agreed the egg crate is too big, but is 1/4" netting small enough for most wrasses?
I zip tied 1/8" netting to eggcrate for my qt tank.

The netting is less likely to injure the fish when they inevitably jump(IMO). I have 1-3 bounces off of my screen per day with my 9 wrasses.

P. rubricaudalis must be being collected again. I have one coming tomorrow from DD and there is another one on there today.

Well just caught my only wrasse swimming around and it happens to be the newest one! Hope this works. It was a blue spotted leopard wrasse.

My new flasher wrasse trio. P. rubricaudalis (been looking for one of these for a long time), P. flavianalis and P. lineopunctatus. The lineopunctatus was supposed to be an adult male but it doesn't look like it to me. Sub adult male or female?
