The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Any suggestions on another breed to go with the flame that is docile towards tank mates
If you're interested only in Cirrhilabrus: http://www.reefedition.com/cirrhilabrus-complexes-inferiority-need-not-apply/

Would a pintail get along with an already established melenurus? The melenurus is larger as well.
Yeah, it shouldn't be a problem.

How long would it generally need to stay in the social acclimation box?

Usually 2-3 days is enough, but not always.

@evolved, I just got a c. roseafascia (see previous page for picture) and it's getting punked by my velvet multicolor wrasse. Same thing happened when I first got my Earl's; the velvet would be the only fish to chase it around. Are these known for their aggression? I noticed he can always be a punk to new wrasses.

Are you using an acclimation box? (you should be, if not)

Seems like that species goes one way or the other on aggression. I once kept one and it was a mild puppy dog, but I've heard stories of them being pretty intolerant, even with anthias.

I put the c. roseafascia in an acclimation box for a day and a half. Nobody seemed to pay him any mind or had shown interest in him, so I released him. But later that afternoon the velvet started chasing it. Even my lineatus (my largest wrasse) doesn't show any interest in it. The roseafascia is slightly bigger than the velvet.

This guy is eating like a pig so I'm very happy with that.
Keep me posted on how yours make out.
I probably wouldn't have had him if it wasn't for you ;)
So thank you

Oh that's you big bro did not know you where on here. I will.

Well, bough a new wrasse, any comments on his species and temperament? I got him for only $22 bucks at petco (he is going to stay in QT for a while, but he was fat and very active in their 180 tank.

C.f. cyanopleura initial phase. Great wrasse. Mine has gotten along with a pink margin, carpenter's flasher, and c.f. pylei (traded in and gone now).
