Love this thread.

I recently added a lubbocki wrasse about 10 days ago. Some reason it only comes out to eat then is back in the rocks. Never had a wrasse do this for this long. Thoughts?

Also my blue star leopard wrasse will be in Tomorrow. And hopefully my possum wrasse by the end of the week. [emoji7]

Either someone is being a bully, or he's still intimidated by another fish in the tank.

Ok i have a reef with corals. Fish are a yellow mimic tang, 2 ocellaris clowns, 1 bangaii Cardinal fish and a Starry Blenny. What kind of wrasse can i get that will be reef friendly and get along with current fish in tank now?

Most of the reef safe wrasses would work well those tankmates.

Just had a tank reboot. My guess is the tomini tang I have. Other mates are 2 clowns and 2 fire fish so I wouldn't think those would intimidate it.

Such a pretty one , hope I get to see more of it eventually.

@eatbreakfast & @evolved. Now that the wrasse count has went down for me in my 40b, (C. cf cyanopleura removed) is the M. melagris still gonna end up be no buneo in the future? I'm down to the C. isosceles, W. nigropinnata, & M. melagris. Is it a matter of the leopards adult size or..? I really want to do things right for the fish. I would like to hope to see a tank upgrade in my future, but nothing is for sure there. If no other wrasses are added would I be OK? Hit me with the honesty, which is why I tagged you guys because I know you will.

Melanurus wrasse is pretty nice.

I think the leopard will be fine in a 40.

I agree, provided you do not keep another fish which would put a significant impact on the pod population (like a dragonet).

Wrasses, specifically exquisite wrasse which is in question for me.. Do they brighten up in colors as they age? My exquisite is pretty.. dull in colors.

Many of them do get brighter as they age.

When I bought my exquisite, there was another, larger exquisite in the same tank. It was a slightly brighter green with quite a bit more red than the one I chose - but it was in poor condition, so I chose the younger, less brightly colored specimen. He'll grow.

If it can be one of the dominant wrasses it's color will get brighter. If it is being harassed, it's colors will dull.

Looks at this beauty I picked up today. Her color is great. She's a tiny one though just an inch and half.

I just picked up one that could be her sister, been a tough 24 hours, but sleeping nicely in the sand of the QT for now. LFS had her in a tank with copper and I had to save her. dang LFS. She was not in the plan.
