what kind of wrasse is that last one? is it a mystery wrasse?

Nope, female C. Jordani trying to camaflouge herself against the rock. My all-time favorite wrasse. She's already looking a little sub-male to me, I don't think I'll have to wait long for her to change to male.

This is my fourth Flame. I bought a trio of females a few years ago. Ended up with a super male, sub-male, and female. Sold the sub-male/female pair and then the super-male a little down the road when we took that tank down. First fish I wanted for our new set-up!

Hi.

Wonder if anyone can help me indentifidentify this wrasse. I've been told it's a juvenile Christmas wrasse but it's 2" long and doesn't seem juvenile lol

That would be correct. Halichoeres Biocellotus, often called Red Christmas wrasse. It is transitioning.

Thank you. Tbh it's front colouration is stunning and has beautiful gold lines down its back. The Christmas wrasses I have seen are fully colored so did wonder. Thanks again

It's fully transitioned into male. It's occelli are gone.

That's the problem with wrasses too fast to capture on camera, you need a lot of patient and some luck and good camera.

I was watching my tiny Radiant Wrasse cleaning my Powder Brown Tang last night. The tang was enjoying it. I didn't realize they were cleaners as juveniles.

Many wrasses are cleaners as juveniles. Most of the sand-burying species, as well as Pseudocheilinus, and of course Labroides and Larabicus and Labropsis.

Halichoeres hortulanus is not safe with motile inverts and will flip small corals.

It's a terminal Brunneus. They had it for $299, marked down from their normal $399 when they have them off and on. Still kind of overpriced as they've become pretty common lately.
