If you added a flasher it maybe helpful to add two or one flasher and one fairy. Any chasing is spread out on two fish. Recommend acclimation box when introducing and I try to be prepared to separate Fish if there’s a problem
did you end up getting a X. margaritaceus?
I didn’t grab one unfortunately, both specimens were sold by the time I wanted to jump on them… I’m annoyed I didn’t phone up and reserve Atleast one of them first.

Anampses is a more finicky leopard IME, I would try compare a Moyer to a China but I have only had experience with two moyers and both were assumed male.
This says to me something is REALLY ticking it off and making it dive into the sandbed. These fish are known to go into hiding for weeks on end but in a peaceful tank they’re often out within a few days IME.
The only fish bigger than the wrasse is the copper band. The most aggressive fish is the squareback anthias. You will see the squareback chase the other squareback and the sailfin wrasse. I see the gold nugget goes where he wants and does what he wants.
And this is what I wish I knew before grabbing a Jade, although I don’t have many “Small” fish. All of mine are hitting 2.5” if not 3”.I had a jade 14 years ago in my 5' 187 gallon tank. Was a great fish until it hit 5", then started eating small fish. Between the jade, the male melanurus, and the bluehead, I wasn't able to have any cleaner shrimp or coral banded shrimp either. Even adding them after the fish were asleep, I'd come down the next morning and they'd be smashing the shrimp to pieces against the rocks and devouring them. They also ate all the clean up crew, snails and hermits.
Yeah, I watched him grab a pajama cardinal by the eye, smash it against a rock, rip it's eye out and eat it. That was the night I tore the whole tank apart, dug through all the sand, and traded him, the bluehead, and the melanurus into the LFS the next morning.
In a 4’ tank you can have 7-8 if you don’t have other fish or the other fish stay 2” or less. Meleagris and ornatissimus should be just fine together in a 4’ tank, I have found ornatissimus to be more aggressive than most leopard wrasses (IME Moueri is slightly worse).
ATM i have 3 tangs, 8 chromis, 2 clownfishes, 1 damsel, 1 fridmani. I'm planning to add 2 kauderni, some anthias and in the future 1 Mandarinfish (or a couple)
