I ordered a Theiling compact rollermat from the Netherlands because they are impossible to find in the US right now. It came with the euro plug :( I thought I would outsmart it and get the US plug from Bulk Reef Plug but it will not power it up. I got a plug converter from Best Buy and the light will come up now but the rollers will not move. There's a humming noise from it but that's about it. Anyone have the same issue?

Don't euro devices run on different voltage settings?
220v rather than our 100v which could explain why the converter is not working right. I believe it just changes the plug style but doesn't up the voltage. I have a true converter coming in next week to test with. The odd part is that the BRS US plug doesn't work. It outputs the same 12v at 450mah as the euro power supply does. The filter shouldn't know the difference between power supplies.

if the out put voltage of both transformers are the same, then it should work. running the motor on the euro plug with that converter probably ran the the motor at half the voltage. some motors don't like this and can actually burn out from a low voltage. not saying this did happen but it's a possibility.

I'll see what happens when the step up converter comes in. If its the motor, that's a relatively cheap and easy fix. Unfortunately not though.

I got the step-up converter today and well it works. I really wish the BRS US would have worked but i guess it is what it is.
