A video segment/show where participants with severe tank problems (algae, nutrients, disease, RTN/STN, etc.) could submit an application for an expert to visit their home help them fix their tank.

The Host/expert would do a thorough assessment (tank profile) of the participant's tank (e.g. maintenance methods (e.g. water changes), bioload, equipment, flow, supplement use, feeding schedule, contaminants, CUC, nutrient export methods, lighting, etc.) and help them bring their tank back to life. Then maybe they can do a follow up and see how that participant is doing after following all the recommendations.

Kinda like those home renovation shows, but for reefs...or like Pimp My Ride or Bar Rescue! Minus the fighting and the drama. lol

What do y'all think?

On Mainstream TV? Wouldn't work, like at all. Could be a YouTube channel, but where's the funding coming from for that? The channel would never break even. I could see BRS doing this every now and then, try pitching the idea to them maybe?

This could very easily be youtube show by some of the big players in the industry.

It’s a cool idea but it would take way too long to film. The fixes are often over weeks to months. No tv production company would want to wait 3-6 months for results to show. YouTube as mentioned above could possibly work though.

I worked on a computer call in show and the difference, as mentioned above, is there was instant gratification. Walk someone through the steps and setup and know right away if it worked.

Honestly, @Bulk Reef Supply is the closest we will probably ever have to this and they are doing it right now. What I like about BRS is their honesty. For example, in the ULM series Ryan had chaeto right from the initial cycle and it died off. Good real world information.

Exactly. Seasons would have to be filmed close to a year before being uploaded. On the bright side, it would allow them to travel and film multiple locations and reefs while the others are in their recovery stages.

I'll gladly volunteer for the pilot! ;Happy
Restarting from a crash.

My apartment building even has units for short term rentals- how convenient is that?! ;Woot

Yeah, I agree. This would be more of a YouTube type setting than an actual TV show. It'd be fun to confess all my reef sins on a show for the public to see too. lol Like my no water changes for 1 1/2 years. =X

Ha, that’s so cool! Before my time, i started watching after they changed it to AOTS.

I launched the show and worked on it for about 18 months before moving back to NY (from San Francisco). Probably the most fun show I was ever part of.

I think a spinoff show would work called:

"Spouse and children! Leave me alone when my arms are in the tank!"

i volunteer my display as the first ‘save my reef’ tank on the youtube channel/show! unless i can just post pictures here and you guys can do it for me? no coral yet though, just inverts, fish and live rock. yikes, someone should do “start my reef” too!

I loved that show! I watched it way back when it was still ZDTV. I still listen to Leo's tech show on weekends, but its a lot more electronics/phones/IOT, than computers nowadays. Still makes me nostalgic for the good ol' days!

Do you remember when Patrick accidentally cussed on air? lol That was epic! Haha Or when Megan called a viewer an "Indian giver" and had to do a live apology. Haha

I remember Patrick cursing (whoops!). I will say Leo and Kate were just as fun off air as on air. They were great people as was everyone who worked behind the scenes on that show.
