I hate how anemone's excreate waste. Honestly i can never really tell if their dead or just excreating waste till its all said and done. If it doesnt look better. Its dead. If it does. ITs alive.Like this morning. I woke up and my new amazing green bta had its mouth wide open. Still don't know how its doin.(woke up like 45 min ago )

Doestly seem it tho man. has been in the tank doin great woke up late had mouth open i thought it was dead and it started closing its mouth when i moved the rock

Yeah just checked on it. Mouths not as wide open and when I moved it and rubbed my finger up against it the mouth closed up. Looked super healthy the past two days and I tested all my levels with industrial kits at my lfs full scale test and they said everything was perfect. Tested everything again today and those that would indicate a dead anemone were not there. Nitrte was about 0.(says 0 for color but really is above between 0 and five) and ammonia was at 0

Think it was just getting rid of waste. Seems perkier now and the tentacles are starting to inflate again. I'll get a pic of the nem when its doing fine to show you guys its a nice green color with purple tips

That is so crazy. How long have you had it? I would think if it was waste it would do that on a semi regular basis? Does it foul the water when it does that?

I've had it for three days now. obviously this is the first time its done this because its so new. and no the water levels are always fine. I had another BTA which did that but the thing never really found a good place to settle in the tank and ended up dieing

I though this was going to be fill in the blank type threads. well my anemones (maxi minies) don't look like they're dieing or melting when pooping, just shrink up a bit and regurge and stay small for a bit.

But since I had a pev to add; I hate how they don't stay where I put them or move all over the tank at such a rate.S

oh boyyy I KNOWWW!!! Mines moved to four different places in three or so days. Its kinda hard to keep em away from corals I usually end up putting removable rocks by the corals so if the anemone gets too close I can just move it. Its a bit of a pain but their beautiful. I'm gonna try to move mine again today he settled in the back in a cave where he'll get little lighting.

Mine did that on and off for the past two years. I still remember the first time I saw that I was freaking out. I recently took it back to the LFS because it kept moving around, getting to close to my other corals, and it was taking up to much room. It also had no color or bubble tips anymore, my clown fish made sure of that. They were so aggressive when hosting it. So, it had to go...

mine dont seem TOO attached. When spooked the female lays in it semi sideways. Its not big enough for th both of them so the little male has to hide in caves. Gonna move the nem then post pics later if i can get my photo thingy working(no not camera the cpu software)

If your really wanting this nem long term, I would stop moving it all over the tank. It will eventually attach to something it likes, but not if you keep messing with it.

this is a new one that has been wandering on its own. Got backed into a corner of a cave in the rock and has pretty much nowhere to go. I'll give it a day and see what it does. If its needed i'll move it

Curious as to what kind of set-up you have? Having had another BTA die already makes me think that this set-up may not be ideal for an anemone.

Solana by Current-Usa. Has built in skimmer and everything with metal hailide. The anemone I had before was a super small one that had pretty recently been cut.

You may already know this, but anemones move when they do not find the right conditions in a certain place, whether it be lighting, flow, food or other environmental reasons (a place to bury their foot, etc.). If an anemone is where you want it and the lighting and flow are close to what they prefer, try spot feeding them often to keep them there.

The guy from my lfs told me not to feed him for a week till he settles. Hes moved around from day 1 and has never REALLY settled yet. looking craooy again today mouths pretty wide open dont see waste yet looks just like b4 hes prob fine but its still a concern in my mind
