Have you considered sending an ICP test? Just to make sure there aren’t any heavy metal build ups?

Activated carbon is my go-to when I get some coral deaths. It helps ensure toxins get removed and it can also remove organics and metals bound to organics.

Other than that, I would look out for predators or parasites. Besides for the magnesium issue (ICP is better at testing it), I don’t see anything else wrong parameter wise. The nutrients and all is OK. You can bring the alk around 7-11dKH, but 13 shouldn’t cause much death if it was raised gradually.

Oh, also test salinity and recalibrate the method of testing. Also watch for hidden temp swings. Too high can hurt corals IME.

I’m definitely having the new tank Alk bump I’ve always gotten. Might lower the AFR for a little while.

And I’ll definitely start running carbon for a while. Hopefully the new tank and the 90% new water has solved all the issues.

As long as she reaches for light. Your's is acclimating to light spectrum. Colors may change.

mine is hanging out at the bottom too. But, 150p in that spot she can reach out to grab.

Nope! It’s in the middle of the rocks. It hasn’t moved from where I placed it.

I also hardly have any sand.

Dusky has been caught and transferred to the big and bad tank where he will hopefully be joined by a flame angelfish and red coris wrasse next week.

The small and wimpy tank will hopefully be getting a hooded flame fairy and filaments flasher wrasse next week. Timor is on the watchlist though and may follow the dusky out the door.

2. The poccilopora is on a hard plastic frag plug that I can’t cut. Guess I have to break it off the plug…

Green is coralline, and yes just snap/clip it off , will be fine...

I have the same thing, but it only coats the bottom 1” of the tank. I have a blade that can easily remove it, if you’re interested. It’s on Amazon.

You can glue the plastic plug to the rock work or you can just snip it off the base. Many acropora keepers snip the base off to prevent parasite eggs from entering the tank.

Pocciloporas grow extremely quick. No issues if snipping is the route you’d go.

Been there; done that: I. Hate. Glue

Gloves are the solution. Use a rubber band on the wrist of the glove to prevent water getting in the glove:

It’s extremely sharp, and will remove that algae like a knife to butter. You only need to use it once and upkeep it with the magnetic scraper.

Let me know when you try it! I love finding hacks! I guarantee it will work. I remove my coralline effortlessly in sheets with this tool.

I use the Aquaforest Ultrablade or Ultrascrape or whatever. It works good. Sometimes those stubborn spots need a second or third pass but it hasn't failed yet, including the occasional coralline.
