So I've had my saltwater mixing bin sitting around for a couple days with an electric thermometer and power head in it. I didn't realize that my thermometer display dropped into the water and now when I took it out I can see corrosion where the battery compartment is. I'm thinking the water is no longer any good but I wanted other opinions about it. Dumb question, just want to make sure the water is no good and I would have to replace it. Thanks!

I honestly don't know if your water was contaminated with anything as a result of this issue, but I would just dump it and make a new batch just for the peace of mind and precaution.

I was building a BMX ramp and somehow sawdust made its way into the closed containers I had. I dumped out a good 80g water and cleaned out the container just in case.

Your answer is simple; ask yourself, Would you risk killing all your fish and coral when you can simply just make new water?

Yeah that was our thought as well, better safe than sorry and we bought new ro/di water from our LFS. Thanks guys!

Smart move! Good that your using RO/DI, and FYI if your buying it from the store you would probably do well to invest in an RO/DI unit. I know that they are not cheap, but if your going to use RO/DI you would do well to purchase a unit, it will literally pay for itself eventually. Bulk reef supply has some nice basic units that are very affordable. Good luck!
