Thermometer placement

Hello all, just ordered a digital thermometer for my tank. I was wondering where and how far down should I submerge the probe to get the most accurate reading?

Also not wanting it to be an eye sore either. Any tips would be great thanks!

It really doesnt matter where you put it, as long as you have appropriate flow throughout the tank, the temperature should be the same all throughout.
