these are taking over my tank, it has pretty interesting growth to get vertical.

I guess I need to do something to maintain these and get them moved back to their area, any suggestions?

Start fragging?
that's one reason why they are spreading. I've only fragged zoas by placing a tile or plug close to it and after it grows on it I cut the string with a razor.

I worry about cutting up that many zoas in the water, I'm not 100% sure about toxins but I don't want to find out the wrong way with those.

Rastas are my favorites!

From what I've read, you mostly need to be concerned about toxins if you cut into a polyp. Cutting between is pretty safe I'm told, and my experience corroborates this--I've only seen brown goo if I damage a polyp.

I'd just remove whole rocks and sell them to your local fish store. Some extra carbon for a day or two should take care of any lingering toxins.

What are they encrusting on to?
they are mostly covering a few small tiles and a large softball size rock. but they have spread from their "island" and plugs, I have an ABS bottom so they are stuck on good. there's not allot of corals to keep these in check in this tank.

Looks really cool to be honest... but I understand the frustration. Definitely fragging would help. The also don't do well when "crushed" so fragging where you can and adding tiles on top of the remnants would certainly help slow them down.

Rasta’s are my favorites as well!

I'm thinking a long process of just letting them do thier thing lol, maybe some super glue on some idk I just don't want to get sick :face-with-thermometer: but I'm not educated on zoas so I was hoping for a few experiences, not cutting the polyp seems hard to do... I'll watch out for brown goo??

Unless you can frag with a piece of substrate attached for plugging, I prefer to let them creep onto plugs themselves like your doing.

I chipped them off with a little piece of rock attached, then glued the rock piece to the plug.

I'm past fragging I need serious maintenance lol before they take all the good real estate and make everything look like rasta zoas

i think the more recent growth is from the FWS ever since I started this tank on it the zoas have exploded! so have my iodine levels though....

Fws?

How long did this take to grow out ?

Zoas grow from a shared mat underneath, you might be able to use a plastic scraper to peel it off the bottom of the tank. The edge zoas likely would be damaged but you might be able to peel this off like a sheet from any smooth surface. Then sell to LFS

that's an idea, I guess I need to get some elbow length gloves and just try something.

I've had those in this tank for over a year not quite 2 if I had to guess. it was a small plug of rastas and utter chaos the rastas took over and smothered out most of the chaos.

KZ flat worm stop on a dosing head. I get ICP a couple times a year but I couldn't figure out why my iodine was so high. that's all I can point to.

it....
