So, after all the years and thousands of posts helping out others, $2000 in sponsorship they decide to ban me.

I didn't agree with them not letting me post pictures or participate outside of my store forum. So, what did they do, they banned me as soon as I stopped sponsoring.

I wasn't really active anymore on RC, so I don't care about not being able to post. It just sucks that they ban me for posting a couple pictures of my tank. Guess ill be sending everyone who asks about forums to R2R. Oh well, I have great home on Reef2Reef!!!!

lol thanks guys. Its no biggie, just irks me a bit. It really makes me want to go out and launch a forum just to show them what a REAL forum is supposed to be. But, REEF2RREEF is already a much better forum, so ill send everyone there. RC is focused on the business aspect and NOT the reef/hobby aspect. A forum should be a free exchange of ideas and experiences, not a business.

Because its the biggest reef forum out there. Most of the "good" and knowledgeable reefers have been banned or left a while ago. RC needs to understand that just because they are the biggest doesn't make them the best.

That's what I don't get. I will go there sometimes for information but it's not a very warm welcoming site and I would think their policy of ban first ask questions never would make their popularity drop but it's still huge.

I feel ya man, I am no longer allowed to review skimmers there or sell skimmers on the site. Even though it all comes out of my pocket. I am allowed to answer everyones skimmer questions. Over 100,000 hits. Your thread had way more hits than that. I surely dont get it and I dont think I ever will. Well reef2reef is great. I go read Melevs thread sometimes too.

I used to have a RC license plate holder and everything.... Now I just have a reef2reef tshirt. Its the only one I promote other than our local club website.

I got banned because they thought I was selling corals without a sponsorship, the reality of it was I hadn't even sold or try to sell a coral on there in over 2 years, I gave them a piece of my mind and they didn't like it so i was banned, regardless who cares about RC? as you stated most of the good people have left anyways

I've found the folks who are on there, tend not to be very much into free-flow of ideas, it's more that there's the way that five guys do it, and if you disagree you get flamed for it. Here, while I may upset a few people by offering a contrary opinion, a discussion will follow that will be productive and enlighten both sides of the debate with what they previously did not know. That the ownership and moderators of this forum support this by not closing topics outright (majority of the time) but instead deleting the non-productive posts is IMO the main reason for this-the owner and mods here put a ton more effort into the forums and it really does show.
I'm no sponsor or vendor, but I'm all for putting in the similar effort that I can to help this site continue to grow and become the dominant english language site out there for reefing, because frankly I don't see why it couldn't be at the pace it's already going at.

That stinks Sunny. I was reading in the Feedback forums the other day on RC and there was a post about why you are no longer allowed. I think it ended something to the effect of "It was a business decision"

the mods here are seriously on top of the forum. one day i had some problems with the forum, gave MHO and the mods replied quickly and understandingly as if he really heard what i had to say. but the time that i really got impressed by the mods being on top of it here was one day that i logged out a friends account on his computer and logged in on my name, couple of hours latter he had a PM from the mods asking him if he had multiple accounts. this is a great thread, lets keep it growing!

RC thinks they have power over people. Give me a break it is a saltwater hobbiest forum site. Give me a break. Some people over there have way to much time on their hands. This is why I love R2R. Rev and the mode do an awesome job running the site. I see sponsors all the time posting in regular forums. That is the way it should be. Even if they own a business they are reef needs just like the rest of us.

This is an example. At MACNA Rev was walking around on setup day just talking to everyone. Just taking it all in looking at what everyone was unloading. IMO Rev is almost a celeb in this industry just like Tyree and Jason Fox. Did he act like it? NO he was just another guy amazed at everything.

This is a hobby and it should be fun!
