It is interesting how my coral preferences change over the years. At first it was lps then sps. At first thin branch deep water type acros now I am amazed with thick branch type sps like abrotanoides, humilis, secale, robusta, etc

Would love to see your pics of these types of acros if you wouldn't mind! Thanks!

Only one I have had so far is a humilis but lost it last year

The only thing that I have that's really thick is a stylo it's base is around 2 inches thick.
Ill post a pic if u want tomorrow when my lights are on

I love the bigger thick branches on humulis, abro's etc, but they all seem to be maricultured and very few make it. I had a friend with a massive humulis, that he called his "fatty", that was coloered up and growing well for over 2 years, but AEFW got it in the end.

That's what I have noticed as well they are usually maris and struggle. The one I had was doing great but a mistake in my part killed it. I always see Unique gets in abros pretty often that's why I asked for pics to see if anyone is having success with them.

If u want thick branches, point ur power heads directly at ur SPS. The branches will grow short and thick

I have heard that s well before but for me it is not just having thick branches it is the corals that are naturally thick like humilis and abros really fat branches. Thanks

I think it's just really more about time.
I just can't see a birds nest having a 1/8 thick base.
The sps will have polyps that may not branch out but there packing cal into the skeleton to make the base stronger

Unique does offer a red abro that is a Dan Rigle coral, that he has had for a few years. I want it for sure

Man why you wanna go and post that I am tryyyyyin to save for Macna.......:p

Don't have anything to share, but awesome thread. I've been a big fan of the humilis for a while. Would love to have a tank full of similar SPS. Let's see some more!
