Just added a thieling rollermat to my sump I will keep update on performance . As for now this thing is awesome could see filter coloring up after just 30 min or so and my tank appears very clean .
I am feeding it with an reef octopus RODC 5500 pump plumbed with 1 ¼ pipe speed set at 2

I can't tell from the pictures but are you feeding it from the overflow or with a feed pump?

Just wanted to tell a bit about the install .
I used all 1 ¼ schedule 80 pipe connected to a reef octopus 5500 dc pump when set up at 7" head seems to flow about 650 gph on setting 2
I would say there is no need to change the metric bulk heads that come with the thieling just order 2 of the 40mm to 1 ¼ adapters here is a list of fittings I used
2 90 degree 1 ¼
1 45 degree 1 ¼ found that putting 45 on water out created less back pressure
1 union at pump
And 2 of BRS 40mm to 1 ¼ adapters
I will add a picture of the return later today
Also I made a Stand 7" height to set unit on in sump I will try to add a photo of that to

I will add a pic of outlet I made it was loud before I added now completely quit

Here are a few more pics of outlet and stand
Tried to use a 90 first but made to much back pressure
45 was much smother flow

Can't say clarity is any better as I had been using filter socks parameters seem same for now

Been running a few day now every thing seems great . The only thing I would say they should do is put a timer circuit so any time the float switch activate it turn a set amount time

Cool and thanks for updating!

I have not done much research on this item, so please forgive me if this has already been answered and I just missed it. What is the cost on the system itself? What is the cost for replacement "roller filter media"?

It was a bit price
Filter 399
Plumbing 35
The pump I am using cost 225 but you do not need a pump that expensive I just had it
Or if your tank return is slow enough you will not need pump at all
Some times you can get the filter for as low as 339 when the have a special
Refill rolls are 29.00 should last atleast 2-3 months

I have one and am adding a second (both fed from my 2" drain). My first roll is way above 90 days, might even pull 4 months out of it. Sounds like you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

I do I would have plumbed to my drain but flow is around 1200 gph seems to be working very well it would be great to see 90 or more from the roll

I just ordered 2 of these for my new build. Heard a lot of good things about them. Looking forward to trying them.

Just an update been running a few weeks looks like it has used about a 5th of the roll looks like I should 2 months to 2.5 months

You use more roll initially as it pulls out matter as it reaches stasis the rate of consumption drops . I had one of these units running for 6 months and upgraded to an hp aquarist if high flow mode. Be careful to monitor the float switch as deposits will make it stick open periodically and it will unroll completely
