Think i may have robbed a local Fish store ..

So went to a local Fish store this morning, to see what they have. This store is not just a Marine fish store , they sell everything from cats , dogs, hamsters etc, as well as freshwater fish.

Normally i wouldn't buy coral here as their pickings are kind of slim and like i mentioned they are not a sole Marine fish store. But they are nice and have a good selection of dry goods, and stuff.

so anyway i walk in and saw this Zoa colony they just received. nice bright orange ones. at least 40+ polyps on a branch Tonga live rock. i asked the price and was told $58. i said ill take it!

To me they look like Flaming sun Zoa's which normally are 10-15$ a polyp? Bright crown , yellowish neon center surrounded by purple.

should i feel bad?

I got something similar to that for $20, don't feel so bad! Of course, my piece had maybe 20 polyps on it?

As soon as they all open up I'll try getting a better pick. Literally just put them in after a coral dip and acclimation.

This is quite the dilemma that I'm sure a lot of us have found ourselves in at one point or another. I have to agree with @Waters on this, and similarly, I wouldn't tell someone else what they're charging is too high

first coral edition of my New tank was a steal . Tank has been up for 2 1/2 months. i wanted to wait to add any coral, but couldn't pass this up.

My 6 line, and blood strip in their shared cave , hiding from the camera.

They are Zoas, they grow like weeds. 60 bucks sounds about right for that colony to me. I certainly wouldn't pay more.

Our LFS said he bought some fish at petco for like $20 but it was worth $100+ for saltwater. Something about having a stripe or an added color. I forgot the price.. Any ways he said it died shortly after :/

You can't feel bad for getting a good deal. They know what they paid and it was probably half that (probably less). I've seen the supplier price lists and coral pics of stuff from all over the world coming into LAX and those are the deals (even after factoring in all the shipping and fees).
