I had a missing Flower anenome and a gnawed upon one as well.
Let the detective work begin!
Not so much detective work as just more acute observation. Found the larger of the 2 Peppermints munching away on a healthy flower anenome. Shooed it away but then the little one came and ate the rest.
I set up the DIY bottle trap last night and caught the big one. Hoping to catch The little bugger tonight!

Ok so point is......Add flower anenome to list of things peppermint shrimp would rather eat then the aptasia.
Also......There are other Less dangerous ways to solve an aptaisia problem.
I feel like it’s playing Russian Roulette with these shrimp but instead of one bullet in the cylinder there is only one empty chamber.

I think their is always a possibility they eat anything but what they were put in there to eat. I have a scarlett skunk cleaner shrimp in my tank, cool right, not really. It seems to love small berghia nudis, which cost far more than it did. I gave up on trying to catch it, lol, thankfully the berghia survived and breed and the shrimp doesn't like full grow berghia nudis.

Sorry to hear about that. I love my rock flowers and would be very irritated. One thing to note is that if you look at a list of peppermint shrimp and other related shrimp there are many others that look like peppermints and can easily be confused by retailers. could very well be that you got one which looks very close to peppermint shrimp but is not.

Yep. I looked and made sure it was correct genus species. I also purchased fm reputable Dealer. I mean I’m not a shrimp specialist so who knows? My thinking Is that it is an opportunistic eater.
One anemone is As good as another!

Tried Berghia and I believe my wrasses ate those! Definitely not trying them again.

Yea, any fish that will eat pest on the rock may go after them. I had well over a hundred aptasia, kinda like I was breeding them, LOL, not really, but once the were established and breeding they just mow them down. I should have taken some pics, but you can see 10 to 15 berghia ganging up on a aptasia. I almost feel sorry for the aptasia, actually, no I don't, LOL!!!
