Think my coraline is dying

I just did a tank transfer from my fluval to my im15 and the rock is completely covered in coraline algae. But the last few days its turned bright pink. It started on the right side rear of the rock. And now it looks white.

Dying coralline will change to bright, fluorescent pink to then white. This typically happens if it’s out of the water for any amount of time.

Sure is pretty as it dies though. It should eventually regrow. Before setting up an AWC I always had a distinct line on my back glass where the coraline algae would die from being out of the water.

30 seconds maybe. As i out it in the other tank. That was 2 weeks ago. Ive taken it out WAY longer than that and sprayed areas for GHA.

Some coralline is pretty sensitive to light IME, might just not like the change. It's hard for me to even get it to grow at all in the highest lit areas.

Almost identical except the first 2-3 days after the transfer. Git the levels back up.

Will low salinity kill off the coralline? My salinity dropped to 1.023.

Wouldn’t think so assuming it was at 1.025/26.

Its weird it’s whittling away. The tank does have dinos now so there’s that.

Keeping Mg up 1360 or so w stable alk and calcium help. Mine started to really take off with Mg supplement. I use redsea blue salt and mg is low.

Noted. In my tank, it seems to do best in the lower light areas too.

A little calcium-flow-light will restore it BUT - do not make a point of dosing/overdosing calcium that it causes other problems
