I got the chalice about a month ago. Shortly after I put it in the tank, my lemon peel angel went to town and began nipping on it. The lemon peel has been relocated and I am curious as to whether the chalice will make it. It's a JF blue eye girl.

I've had chalices come back from worse. It all depends I guess. My advise would be to keep it in a low flow area. Once a chalice is that stressed, it's flesh becomes very sensitive to flow.

I would also move it to low flow low light and let it heal up. I've had one come back from way worse.

Just a few pics of my Tyree Pink Watermelon coming back

It has grown and colored up just a little more since the last picture.

It will take a while to heal, but I am thinking it will come back. I once dropped a huge frag of Acan Echinophylia on a frag of Rainbow Wilsoni. It was MAD. It's flesh lost a lot of texture and color and it looked like a big ugly purple gumdrop for a few months. (During this time I named it "Punch-In-The-Face Coral") It came back 100% and started growing again. 1smile1

Had an incident with my moorish idol, left my bgm chalice with no flesh. Out of laziness I left it in the tank on the sand a few weeks later I noticed it had flesh again, now it is bigger than it was. I also had an incident where fed ex delayed a delivery with lots of nice chalices. They were all slimy but I put them in the tank any ways. 6 died and three pulled through so you never really know what a coral will come back from. There is always a chance a coral can come back! Dont think there is a magic recipe though just the luck of the draw. Good luck!

Thanks for the input!!! I'm really hopeful now that this chalice will make it. I already have it in low light and low flow. I will keep a close eye on it.

+1 on low flow and light and try to keep hermits away because they can aggravate the coral even more. i wouldnt feed it either for a week or so just let it be and all should be good. had way worse make it
