Thinking about buying radion pros

I know a few people with them. They seem to be happy, I even considered them myself. But the price point was the downfall. One light = mortgage payment I just couldnt justify so i went with another brand. They sure are nice lights though!

I am running 3 over my 180 gallon Sps reef. It took a while to get them adjusted properly but now that I have found that sweet spot my corals seem happy and are coloring up and starting to grow.

Best way is to buy a use gen1 and upgrade for $325ish($300+shipping). That avg out to about $675 per radion pro. You can get knock off Chinese LED at your LFS, but if they have both( which my LFS have) you can see the LED on radion is much better, they will last much longer than knock off and you can repair them if needs to be. Resell value is their for radion but almost none with knock off. With the new reeflink....changing the setting is an app away. I am all pro and happy that I did not get knockoffs.

I give them two thumbs up (once dialed in)! Definitely start on a lower intensity in the beginning, those bad boys are powerful!! I run 1 at 50% intensity on by 20" deep tank and have no plans of going an higher. Part of me thinks that might even be too high.

I upgraded from gen 1 to the Pros in October and am happy with the lights.

Things that I like about the Radion lights:
1. The blubs do not degrade, or become less effective, over 6-9 months, which gives the tank inhabitants a nice consistent light source.
2. The ability to adjust the light intensity for different times of the day and other programing features such as: traveling sunrise/sunset, moon phases.
3. They don't generate a lot of heat in the room and they are quiet.
4. The electric bill is cheaper than with some of the older lighting technology.
5. Customer support is top notch.
6. The option to change the lens to get a wider spread.

Things that I don't like:
1. The web interface to control the lights can be flakey, but they have worked out most, if not all the bugs.

Things I look forward to:
1. Setting up Reef Link which will allow me to control the lights wirelessly. (Soon you will be able to control their pumps as well)

Good call on the Pro's, I have five running above my tank and can't be an happier.
All lights are running over the reeflink now for about 5 months and hoping that Ecotech send me the Firmware for the Vortech pumps in January.
It got pussed back a little but soon to be released to the marketing tank owners.
On the radions I started with the gen 1 about two ears ago and since than been upgrading for there on.
Growth was kinda slow on the SPS but after 4/5 months when I was running the final custom schedule from Ecotech my SPS started to put on some serious growth and color.
IMO, you can't go wrong with Ecotech, one of the best customer service too.

Diesel, what size tank is that? I like the dimension and your set up is amazing man! I really like the modern look of your setup.

72x27x24, PVC bottom, 3 side starphire, black seams, coast to coast internal over flow, Planet Aquariums custom tank.
