So currently I have 2 MP40qd pumps on the side walls of my tank. I've been thinking about moving them to the back wall but I'm worried about the flow. Will I still have enough flow around the tank? Might move just the right one to the back, since I have more space above the rocks.

Do you think the water will smash off the front glass & create an issue with the sand?

Any reasons why they are better on the sides vs back?

(ignore my wires, haven't tucked them in the 80/20 yet because I'm lazy)

Thats a mp40 on the back wall of my 34 gal tank (currently under construction) It can be done with lots of work and a heavier sand/rock, lots of adjustments and time. With your long tank, I would keep em on the sides, your middle will have low flow if both in the back.

Is that a Red Sea 170? Do you find one MP40 is fine vs 2 MP10s?

I agree that on a long tank at least one on the side would be better.

It's a RSM130D. Been up about 7 years. I wanted 2 10's but was given a 40. 1/2 power is too crazy, full blast would move every grain of sand in 1 hour. I keep it low and on reef or lagoon setting. Before a water change I put it almost to full to blast out all lose debris. Has worked great so far.

I have a standard 75 gal. I tried my MP40 on the back wall. It just dug a big hole in the sand in front and left dead spots on the ends.
