So i was planning on keeping a shark, ive been in love with sharks since i was a kid and have been in love with predators. I wanted to keep a Blacktip Shark and ik i would need a 1000g or bigger tank. My question is What tank would be appropriate to keep mostly a juvenile blacktip reef and how much do u guys think would it be? (filter system included)

I personally wouldn't recommend a black tip shark as your first animal in a tank either, haha

The smallest black tip sharks arrive in the states is about 30".

Not sure what your budget is for your project, but a 30" shark ships in a 48x48 wooden crate with a literal ton of water. The freight alone just to get to the US, let alone to where you are located is 4 figures.

At 30" you already need a 1000g tank. And that is small. It would need to be a specialized pill shaped tank with round ends so the shark can continuously do laps.

You really need something like 120x120x48 to start with.

I had a friend in the 90's who had a 15'x15'x10' tank built into the center of his house and with unlimited funding he had a hard time keeping black tips successfully long term.

You want to keep a black tip shark as your first tank? Might want to start a little smaller ;)

If you are already at 4ft on a 75gallon, I'd move up to a 120g instead - basically the same foot print and similar equipment choices, but you get more front to back room for aquascaping and a bump in water volume.

And honestly, I'd stay away from keeping sharks altogether...

Ill just take a price, my budget will be something ill work on, lets say ill keep a baby black tip first and some live rock in there for sure, ill need a circle tank and it doesnt have to be all glass, i could have small windows basically on 2 sides and of course for filter system i have no idea what to buy yet, do u think u could say how much it would cost? Thanks for answering this btw, your helping me alot with my knowledge on how to keep sharks and all

Ah i see, i was thinking of a red sea but it seems like the red sea costs alot more than other normal tanks for no reason, so ill be finding a tank soon and im trying to find cheaper lights than the red sea ones too, theyre all quite expensive

Its not really about your skills, or how dedicated you are - they are certainly a leave in the ocean species, for many reasons. If you really want a shark, check out ORA captive bred Epaulettes...
