Hi There,

Im thinking of changing my Aquaone AR620 tropical tank into a marine tank...!! What will i need to change on it?

It has a trickle filter with 2 18w bulbs. Will the lighting be sufficient or can I get new bulbs for it? What filter would be best for me to get and also what skimmer?

Im a total noob when coming to marine aquariums and equipment so any help will be great.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to R2R! We will be glad to help you!

Let me ask you what type of tank are you wanting to do? Fish Only, Fish Only With Liverock, or a full Reef?

He sidman, all the way from London!! Sorry, I can't give you much advice, but these guys, and gals ;) , definitely know their reefs! I just wanted to say Hi, and welcome you to R2R, and the hobby! Can't wait to see how it all turns out! Good luck!

Welcome to R2R!
Is that London, Ontario, or London, England? Either way - good to have you here.

To keep a reef in your AR620, it will require some significant changes! The built-in filter will be replaced with a protein skimmer, and the live rock will do the bacterial filtration. Likewise, the lighting that comes with the AR620 won't be sufficient for a reef. A nice LED fixture will do the trick nicely. If you do a search, you'll find some examples of people using the AR620 for a marine tank. This should be an interesting project!
