Currently the refugium portion of the sump (40g, also has a 30g sump where the equipment is) is probably about 30-40 lbs of live rock and a decent size ball of cheato. I've been fighting a hair algae issue in the sump. no algae in the main tank, only in the sump which didn't bother me until it began to clog the pump. Measurable phosphates are usually < 0.1 and I feed pretty light. I digress. I am thinking about pulling all of the rock from the refugium and just running the 40g with macro, cheato, dragons breath, maybe some mangroves. Just looking to gather some thoughts, any negatives that may come from this or if anyone has done something similar and switched from live rock to more macro in the past.

Besides the pump clogging, I envy you! Lol Sounds like you have a great algae scrubber doing its job!

HAHA yeah thats why I let it go I was pretty stoked I was like sweet, awesome algae scrubber kicking in. I've tried everything from keeping the mess down and out of the pumps but its just sooo much work to keep it from making a mess.
