I don’t see any snails in there, are they hiding? Perhaps you just need to buy some hungry
I do have a few different types of hermit crabs also a couple large turbo snails, some Astraea snails, Ceriths, and Nassarius snails. I think I could probably use a few more however so I may be ordering some shortly. I notice they tend to hang out more on the side glass that I clean regularly than on the back where there is growth-a-plenty. Also I have a 40gal refugium with a couple different types of macro algae.

Are you feeding your tang meaty foods? He should really be doing a number on the rocks also. I don’t think the snails like the insecurity of the longer algae, so stick to the shorter stuff where they have a good foothold. If you clean the stuff off the back with a tool and pick off the stuff on the rocks (siphon it or let it run into a filter sock) you may find the snails and tang will do the rest for you. May take you an hour of work or so.

Is that a 24inch cube?

36" cube. I scrape the back every couple weeks and about a week later this is what it looks like. I broadcast feed a variety of foods in small amounts throughout the day... some meaty. I stopped feeding nori hoping the tang would take more interest in grazing from the rocks

Wow. I can see how that would make manual cleaning of the rocks awkward. What other fish are in there?
