Thinking of adding a UV.....Here goes the debate !!!!!!!

My system is 850 gallons and I run tandem Suntail Reeflo pumps, they each run right at 4000 GPH for the triton method. Thinking of adding one UV to the one Reeflo Suntail pump, an Aqua Ultraviolet Viper 400 http://www.aquaultraviolet.com/products/uvsterilizers/viper/p400watt .... This unit would be able to eradicate any algae, bacteria, or even parasite at this wattage and flow rate. Do any of you fellow reefers have experience with this unit, or this brand. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I used this brand a few years back on a pond application. I don't remember the model number but at my flow rate I needed two 3' uv bulbs. They worked well for reduction of the green water syndrome for the pond, when the water started turning green again it was time for uv bulb replacement which was typically about every eight months if I remember correctly. Worked for several years without ballast issues or leakage problems while I owned the property. I thought the product was well made and would buy from them again.

That's a lot of $$ to spend on a clarifier! I was in the market recently and ended up buying a TMC 110. Pleased with it so far. $400.

I too have the TMC Pro Pond unit. I dont use it a lot . But it is there if I so desire. Just be sure to dial back the flow if you want it to work. Too much pressure can crack them.
