Hello. I'm in the process of moving and making a few adjustments to my setup. I currently have a marineland small overflow that's to the left of center.

Thinking I need alittle more even flow from both sides of the tank.
I could get a second overflow and place it to the right of center.
Or remove the overflow, drill a second hole of the right side, install bulkheads and silicone in a baffle. And do a herbie style drain off the back of the tank. But will lose the emergency drain feature. Return pump is a jabeo dcq10k the splits into 2 x 3/4" returns. One on each side of the tank.

I don't think you will see a large benefit from adding another overflow. Also trying to equalize the two individual overflows could become an issue if not mounted at exact same height. If you need more flow add a powerhead. Also less holes in the glass means less opportunity for leaks.

Okay. That sounds reasonable. Also, I have a 20g breeder. Would there be any benefit to setting it on a table next to the stand then plumbing the overflow to it for filter sock and skimmer then a drain to the 55 for other filter media and equipment. It's getting hard to get under the stand to work of stuff.

I don't think there is a real downside to adding the 20g long and it would increase your overall system size. It might be an eyesore depending on where you have your tank though. Using a 55g as a sump under a stand is tough because of how narrow and tall the 55 is. I always chose the 40g long for my 48" sumps, as it is only 16" tall. If it were me I'd take this opportunity to put a shorted sump in place.
