Thinking of getting an anemone :)

I have been in the hobby for around 3.5 years and have always wanted an RBTA. But I also love my coral, so I was wondering how much damage a RBTA could cause a tank stocked with Coral? Also how important is flow to an anemone?

just keep the coral away from the rbta. put it where you want it and it most likely will stay or only move a few inches. but like any other nem it will kill whatever it touches mine likes med random flow

It can cause a lot of damage, but I've been lucky I let mine find a home before adding my Sps and he's been in the same high flow area since.

They can move pretty far and fast when you aren't looking. I've had one nicely settled in my tank for about 2 months now and it just split. Now both of them are in the same spot just hanging out. My clownfish is loving it. He has more real estate now. A home and now a guest house

if you really want one and have the real estate to build a separate island for the nem, that's the best bet it'll stay in that area. as long as it has something to attach her foot, she should stay in the island. good luck.

Agreed, an amemone could move around your entire tank stinging everything in it's path overnight.....it is always a possiblilty, I have a RBTA that had been in the same spot for over a year, it decided to move one night & man did it do some damage, lost 2 brain corals, it damaged a 3rd.....it's been in the same spot for the past 2 years but it could move at any moment.....it's just something you have to take into consideration before adding one, there is really no way to effectively contain it long term in one spot....HTH

Those things will move where they want, when they want. They could do laps around the aquarium if they felt like it. It is rare that it will stay where you put it. They like to crawl into powerheads and commit suicide. Also down drains. Plan ahead before you get one.
