Thinking of starting a reef tank

I currently have a 100 gallon fish only tank and am considering starting a reef tank. Can anyone help me, I am trying to figure out what size of tank is best to start.

The bigger the tank the better but with that comes cost. With a bigger tank, you minimize the risk of swings affecting your corals due to water volume. So you just would need to decide a budget first and go from there.

What type of filtration do you plan on running for your reef tank (sump, all-in-one, hang on back)?

Best to get the size tank you want right from the get go. Upgrading later on is a real pain, I know, I've done it.

Larger volume systems do have their benefits to a certain point. More room for error and plenty of volume to support all sorts of life. Up to about 150g an emergency water change can solve most probs and is still manageable.
