thinking of taking my filter socks off

I wouldnt,why do you feel the need to take it off??I change mine out every 2 weeks but if you don't mind micro bubbles in your tank then have at it:wink:

I wouldn't either. I rinse mine once / week and change them out every 2 weeks and there's no way I want everything I see in the sock left in the system.

if i dont see micro bubbles by tomorrow im keeping them off. there just a pain to take out my sump. plus all the water passes through that nasty thing. i have around five large filter socks and wash them in my washer when needed.

I use cheap nylons not quite as fine but they get the job done.

Nor do I run filter socks. I used to and liked how it lessened the floating particulates, but i'd get lazy about changing them so now i don't bother.

I have been keeping reef systems for over 20 years and have never used one. I wouldn't have one personally.
