Third time better be the charm

do you have a foxface ?

do you have a foxface ?
I've got an Adorable baby FF who finishes up QT in 10 days for the nem tank (since that tanks job in life is to make me feel mortal...stupid dry rock starts)

I missed me Girard and the work he did in there! @Erin O

Me no. I want to wait until after the big vacations are done and that will give me time to get the tank stable and happy first. So end of October is the timeline for more fishes. I would like a foxface. But I haven't really even started researching things yet. One thing for certain I will get my trigger. The local shops have had them and I haven't pulled the fish yet.

Research:
Pros: Foxies are Dope! Will happily munch on long hair algae and many much on bubble algae as well. They feed like tangs all day long cleaning and pecking at rocks. They are natural peacekeeping fish and I've seen them deescalate conflicts within the tank, they have venom in their spikes used (usually) for defence. They homie up with other fish.

Cons: SOME have been found to take at nipping at polyps. I've never experienced this myself. They can get pretty large but are not super fast growers.

Source: Lost said so.

I believe @i cant think said 1 spots are very prone to nipping coral. Siganus magnificus is safest.

@i cant think

Very prone to or more prone than Lo, 2 Spot, mag and Bicolor?
We spoke about foxes before.
Now I remember when I got my foxface, he was in a tank FILLED with softies and many of the invasive ones such as Zoa’s too, not one of them was touched, he’d pick between them to eat the algae around them though.
I do think Magnificents are less likely to nip compared to the Vulpinus and Unimaculatus. I know when I worked in the LFS we had a foxface in each coral display that was large enough (We even had some with rabbits), if any had to be removed it was often the Unimaculatus and Vulpinus, very rarely did we have to remove the Uspi’s and Magnificus’.

Ok because lost said so works for me. Magnificent foxface has made the list for utilitarian purposes. And when he is purchased I will name him lost.

Call him Sauce in case he's Sassy? Then it can just be Saucey.

I wouldn't do that...It'll be worthless clean up.. it'll end up just eating in n out, left twix, and drink bud light, no green things.

I literally remember the last green Think I ate and it was last month.

So if I can classify it as part of the clean up crew that means I don't have to wait till october?
I got no idea. I do know it's a safe first fish to add. Probably still needs friends.
Brain turning off...
Probably never on to begin with.

My magnificus was the first fish to go in. I got it in I believe a week after the Cycle had finished. I have had him with every coral type, NPS, Softies, Mushrooms, LPS, SPS and I haven’t caught him nipping.

They had a healthy looking two barred rabbitfish at my Petco for $50. They get big though.
Two Barred Rabbitfish remain smaller than most non Foxface Rabbits. I think you would be alright. They get a similar size to Siganus unimaculatus and Siganus uspi. Topping off at 10 inches in the wild however fish seem to only get to 80% of their wild size in captivity.
