Third time better be the charm

Whats sg at? Im trying to remember the formula i used when my sg levels were 1.022

Yup, been in some bad boats. 55gtank. Late 2000s. Learning about the importance of sg levels

Remove a few gallons of water add half a cup of salt. Mix well. Dump back in. Check sg,

was trying to bump sg up slowly .01 per day.

Sg is at 1.0249 so working up. My issue is more ca, alk and mag. Didn't move in 24 hrs even with increased dosing.

Water change and return pump cleaned in office. Powerheads cleaned on 180g. Flowing better.

I'm really sorry this is all happening :(.
Could be worse. So much worse. But we learn from our mistakes and FUBAR's. Should share it all not just the fun stuff.

Did another 20g water change this am. Levels are starting to level back out.
I did lose pinky though. I feel terrible. All that work and everyone that chipped in, it feels like I let you down. But bright side I didn't lose everything. So there is that.

Off to scour fb for a FOWLR tank candidate. If not will get something on order from you know who ;)

If there is anything I can say to lift your spirits. Please pretend I said it!

I'm awful with words. I've been in this hobby long enough to say, back in 1992... ssssit just died. We tried and tried.
I was able to keep a perl bubble coral under 3 6.5k flood lamps. My dads idea.

2006, i was killing shrooms and leathers figuring things out.

Returning to the hobby. I lost my hammer island in 2021. Only a couple remain. I've lost many goni frags. And many other kinds of coral. Losing torches during shipment, 14 days after. This hobby will kick you in the balls, hard!

Hang in there. This ride is not over!

Don't forget to leave the skeleton in the tank just in case?

I always try to remember, this hobby wouldn't be nearly as rewarding if it wasn't as much challenging.

You got this!

I'll add a little luck of the Irish

good evening had a busy busy day today.
Went to the dentist, pulled/spun some honey, groceries, clothes, dishes. Got some stuff delivered.
Went to Mikes and went to a new LFS. He wants black sand for the FOWLR tank. He also mentioned on the way home that if I wanted to go bigger then I would have to get another Tslot frame to match the one on the 180g. wait what? he said one of the stipulations of getting another tank was that i would be using the FW 40g as the sump and the stand for the new tank. no problem. NOW i can keep the 40g fw and get a whole new set up for the FOWLR. off to go shopping.

Hi
So can you run me passed how many tanks you have. So a 40g sump that means big tank above . You also have bees live been out with the local bee keeper and it is brilliant I even have my own bee suit and smoker lol
Great thread but I would think you would slow down but maybe just a hard core reefer

Currently there are 3 running tanks. 40g IM aio cube in my office upstairs (I work from home full time) 180g mixed reef with 40g basement sump. 40g FW.
Other hobbies include beekeeping, scuba diving, classic cars.
Slow down not likely at this stage in life. I have lived more then the time I have left so I am going all in on most everything. There will be no regrets when it's all done.
I do take things slow. I over research, over engineer and over analyze most everything. I freeze when it's time to act and can't make a decision with out months of thinking about it. So I don't think this new one will be any different.
Welcome btw and thanks for following.
