Yeah no hob skimmer. Going to run it to the basement where I will use the 100g rubbermaid tub as the sump. Lots of rock and a decent skimmer in that. Should be able to keep some cuc or macro in it as well. I am limited on budget and don't think another 6footer will work unless I go narrower front to back 18 instead of 24. We have plenty of time to decide. Mike is coming over Sat/Sunday to assess the floor/ceiling situation as well as the additional electrical.I can attest that this is true
HOB skimmers have a tendency to overflow onto the floor. 3 times in my case and will never use one again.
For a FOWLR I would go the 6 ft. So many more options for fish! Which is part of the reason people go for a FOWLR is all those pretty fish that eat coral, but those fish also tend to be bigger. In the long run I think you would regret anything shorter.
